CBSE Class 10 Computer Applications Exam Format 

The CBSE Class 10 Computer Applications question paper contains five sections, the computer applications exam of both theory and practical have an equal weightage of marks, and both papers are of 50 marks.  

  1. Section A has 12 questions with 1 mark each; most of which are multiple-choice. They are usually simple and require selecting the correct option from the given choices.

Example: Which one of the following is not a Search?

a. Google

b. Bing

c. AltaVista

d. Firefox

  1. Section B has seven short-answer (SA-I)-type questions carrying two marks each. These questions require concise answers and test students' understanding and ability to express their knowledge clearly and briefly.

Example: Explain the term Remote login. Name the protocol used for Remote Login.

  1. Section C has 4 short answers (SA-II) type questions carrying 3 marks each. 

Example: What are the three ways of inserting or linking a style sheet?

  1. Section D has 1 Long Answer (LA) type question carrying 4 marks. These questions demand detailed answers and often involve explaining concepts, solving problems, or discussing topics at length.

Example: Write the suitable HTML Code for the design given in the paper.

  1. Section E has 2 source-based, case-based and passage-based questions carrying 4 marks each.

Unit 1: Networking (15 marks)

Unit 1 includes very important topics such as Internet protocols (TCP/IP, SMTP, POP3, HTTP, and HTTPS), services on the Internet, the World Wide Web, and mobile technologies (SMS, 3G, and 4G).

Unit 2: HTML (25 marks)

Unit 2 includes an introduction to web page design using HTML, font tags, HTML forms, and creating a table using the tags table, tr, th, td, row span, and colspan. This unit carries half the marks from the question paper and is very important for both theory and practical exams. 

Unit 3: Cyber Ethics (10 marks)

Cyber ethics includes software licenses and the open source software movement; e-commerce: privacy, fraud, and secure data transmission; freedom of information; and the digital divide.

Practical Exam (50 marks)

Practical marks are distributed based on:

  • Lab Test: 20 Marks
  • Lab Manual: 15 Marks
  • Viva Voce: 5 Marks
  • Project File: 10 Marks
