The Class 9 Computer Applications Question Paper contains 5 sections: 

Section A has 12 questions with 1 mark each, most of which are multiple-choice. They are usually simple and require selecting the correct option from the given choices.

Section B has seven short-answer (SA-I)-type questions carrying two marks each. These questions require concise answers and test students' understanding and ability to express their knowledge clearly and briefly.

  • Example: What is e-learning? Mention its two main advantages. 

Section C has 4 short answer (SA-II) type questions carrying 3 marks each.

  • Example: What do you understand by the term “digital divide"? Mention any two measures to overcome it.

Section D has 1 Long Answer (LA) type question carrying 4 marks. These questions demand detailed answers and often involve explaining concepts, solving problems, or discussing topics at length.

Section E has two source-based, case-based, or passage-based questions carrying four marks each.

Unit 1: Basics of Information Technology (20 marks)

Unit 1 carries 20 marks in the syllabus and includes topics like computer systems: characteristics of a computer, components of a computer system (CPU, memory, storage devices, and I/O devices): Memory: primary (RAM and ROM) and secondary memory storage devices: hard disc, CD ROM, DVD, pen/flash drive, memory stick; I/O devices: keyboard, mouse, monitor, printer, scanner, web camera types of software: system software (operating system, device drivers), application software, including mobile applications, to get basic knowledge of the system.

Unit 2: Cyber Safety (15 marks)

Cybersafety provides knowledge of the digital world and its consequences. It includes safe browsing of the web and using social networks: identity protection, proper usage of passwords, privacy, confidentiality of information, cyberstalking, and reporting cybercrimes. • Malware: viruses and adware. 

Unit 3: Office Tools (15 marks)

Unit 3: It is important to grasp an understanding of the common office tools, which are essential for future career purposes. This unit includes topics like Introduction to a Word Processor, Editing and Formatting Text, Presentation Tools, Inserting Pictures from Files, Creating Animations, etc.
