The Class 12 Political Science sample paper is aligned with the latest exam pattern of the CBSE; this will help you understand the exam format and types of questions you may receive in the exam. The question paper consists of five sections (A, B, C, D, and E) with 30 questions in total:
Question numbers 1–12 are multiple-choice questions of one mark each.

Question numbers 13–18 are worth 2 marks each. Answers to these questions should not exceed 50–60 words each.
Example: Describe any two problems faced by the Election Commission while holding the first general elections in the country.
Question numbers 19–23 are worth 4 marks each. Answers to these questions should not exceed 100–120 words each. There is an internal choice in two of the four-mark questions.
Example: In spite of the conflict, Sri Lanka has registered considerable economic growth and recorded high levels of human development. Support the statement.
Question numbers 24-26 are passage, cartoon, and map-based questions. Answer accordingly.
Example: Read the passage given below and answer the questions that follow: ‘Commons’ are those resources that are not owned by anyone but rather shared by a community. This could be a ‘common room’, a ‘community centre’, a park, or a river. Similarly, there are some areas or regions of the world that are located outside the sovereign jurisdiction of any one state and therefore require common governance by the international community. These are known as res communis humanitatis, or global commons.
Question numbers 27–30 are worth 6 marks each. Answers to these questions should not exceed 170-180 words. 8. There is an internal choice in 6-mark questions.
