​The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has updated the examination pattern for Class 11 for the academic year 2025-2026. This change aims to promote a deeper understanding of subjects and reduce reliance on rote memorisation.​

Competency-Based Questions (50%): Half of the exam will consist of questions that assess students' ability to apply concepts in real-life scenarios. These may include:

  • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)​
  • Case-based questions​
  • Source-based integrated questions​

Multiple Choice Questions (20%): A fifth of the exam will feature MCQs that test critical thinking and decision-making skills.​

Constructed Response Questions (30%): The remaining portion will comprise traditional short and long answer questions, reduced from the previous 40% to 30% to accommodate more competency-based assessments.​
