CISCE regularly revises its Class 12 Syllabus to keep up with the evolving time and course. For the academic session 2024-25, the CISCE has officially released the revised syllabus for all the subjects including compulsory and elective subjects.
With this syllabus, students can have an idea of the marks distribution in each subject and their paper pattern to follow. The ISC Class 12 Exams comprise various subjects, each carrying a total of 100 marks. These marks are distributed among theory, practical, project work, and internal assessment, based on the subject's requirements.
In subjects where only project work is necessary, the theory paper is assigned a maximum of 80 marks. For subjects that entail both practical and project work, the theory paper constitutes 70 marks. ISC Class 12 2024-25: Paper Pattern of Compulsory Subject
English
The subject English is compulsory for ISC class 12. This paper has two components, English Language and Literature in English. Each of these components will consist of a Theory Paper of 80 Marks and Project Work of 20 Marks.

ISC Class 12 2025: Important Regulation Updates
- The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations shall conduct ‘Compartment Examinations’ for Class XII only once in the year. The candidates shall be provided only one attempt to clear the Compartment Examination.
- Candidates who have failed to secure a Pass Certificate and have been awarded a PCNA (Pass Certificate Not Awarded) in the current year of the ISC Examination will be eligible to appear for the Compartment Examination. However, the candidates should have passed English and two other subjects in the ISC Examination in order to be eligible to appear for the Compartment Examination.
- In the Compartment Examination, the candidates will be permitted to appear for ONE subject only. All candidates appearing for the compartment examination are required to appear for the Theory
- The Practical/Project marks of the subject (where applicable) awarded to the candidate in the main examination will be carried forward.
