An object experiences a net zero external unbalanced force. Is it possible for the object to be travelling with a non-zero velocity? If yes, state the conditions that must be placed on the magnitude and direction of the velocity. If no, provide a reason.
It has two conditions:
(i) In the first condition, if the object is in a state of rest then the answer of the question will be "no" because in the absence of an unbalanced force from mNewton's first law of motion, the object would not remain in it's former position.
(ii) In the second condition, if the resultant force of the forces acting on a moving object is zero, then the resultent force of the total forces on the object will be zero. In such a condition the answer to question would be 'Yes'.
