Question:

Gravitational force acts on all objects in proportion to their masses. Why then, a heavy object does not fall faster than a light object ?

Answer:

The acceleration with which an object fall towards the earth is constant and it's value is equal to the value of the acceleration due to gravity of the earth. Thus all objects whether light or heavy fall with the uniform acceleration due to gravity. This is the reason why a heavy object does not fall faster than a lighter object.
