Question:

Imagine that you are sitting in a chamber with your back to one wall. An electron beam, moving horizontally from the back wall towards the front wall, is deflected by a strong magnetic field to your right side. What is the direction of the magnetic field?

Answer:

The direction of current flowing is from the front wall towards the back wall as it is in the opposite direction to the flow of electrons. If the direction of force applied is towards the right side, then using Fleming’s left-hand rule, the magnetic field is applied in a downward direction.
