Question:

What are the examples of elected governments not protecting or even attacking the rights of their citizens? Why do they do that?

Answer:

Examples of elected governments not protecting or even attacking the rights of their own citizens are as follows:

(i) Ethnic massacre of Albanians in Kosovo

(ii) Rule of Mugabe in Zimbabwe

(iii) Rule of Pinochet in Chile

(iv)The policy of apartheid by Europeans in South Africa

These elected governments did not protect or even attack the rights of their citizens because they wanted to hold power in their hands and keep citizens under their control so that they could rule the country and people would not oppose their oppression.
