When a 12 V battery is connected across an unknown resistor, there is a current of 2.5 mA in the circuit. Find the value of the resistance of the resistor.
Here, V = 12 V, I = 2.5 mA = 2.5 × 10–3 A
Using Ohm’s Law,
R = V/I
R = 12/(2.5 × 10–3)
R = 12 X 103/2.5
R = (120/25) X 103
R = 4.8 X 103Ω
The resistance of a resistor is 4.8x × 10–3 W.
