What are Some Basic Yet Effective Habits of Toppers That I Can Learn?
Toppers are not born with special powers or magic wands; they are self-made with consistent hard work and unique strategies that make them stand out.
From meticulously planning their study schedules to maintaining a balance between learning and leisure, they stay focused and motivated throughout their journey.
You all have watched the interview of toppers at one point in our lives. But have you ever wondered what the most common traits of these toppers make them a topper?
I am sure many of you will say Hard Work because toppers reveal in their interview that they studied 9-10 hours daily. But if that is the main reason, why is a person or student who studied more than 10 hours per day, not a topper? Why is he still an average student?
Well, hard work sure is important, but along with hard work, a few basic yet effective habits should also be taught, and the most important of them are:
1. Positive mindset
A positive mindset is a game changer, and this has been proved by psychologists worldwide through research and experimentation. Maintaining a positive attitude throughout the exam preparation journey helps one overcome challenges and improve productivity and performance by a significant percentage varying from person to person.
2. Consistency
Consistency is another transformative habit that is seen in Toppers. It is an advanced or, say, more refined version of discipline. It is an important habit that distinguishes a topper from an average student. Unlike an average student, a topper maintains his consistency in the study routine. When studying becomes a daily routine of a student's daily routine, it requires less conscious effort to get started, reducing procrastination. Consistency also helps you recall the previous topics and chapters more easily, thereby solidifying the concepts at the time and allowing you to manage your time.
3. Inquisitive Mind
An Inquisitive mind is a powerful asset one should have if one wants to become a topper. Some people are born inquisitive, while some are not. However, the bright side is that even if you are not born with it you can develop it through regular practising. To cultivate an inquisitive mindset, you must start questioning everything you read, hear, and see. So, "Question the 'whys' and master the 'hows.'" With regular practice, you will be able to master it. Use this mindset while you study, as it will help you better understand the concepts and long-term memory retention.
Remember, there is no substitute for hard work and no shortcut to success.
