What is a Rainbow and How is it Formed?
A rainbow is a natural optical phenomenon visible as a multicoloured arc in the sky. It occurs when sunlight is refracted, dispersed, and reflected by water droplets in the atmosphere, usually after a rain shower.
A rainbow is formed in the sky opposite the direction of the Sun. Water droplets act as tiny prisms, bending and spreading the incoming sunlight. The light is then internally reflected within the droplet before bending again as it exits. This process of light dispersion and internal reflection results in different colours reaching the observer's eye.
