  • A group of cells having similar origins forms tissues.
  • A group of tissues forms organs.
  • Different organs together form an organ system.

  • Plant tissues are of two types: Meristematic Tissue and Permanent Tissues.
  • Meristematic tissues are the tissues that can divide. They are responsible for the growth of the plant both in length and in diameter.
  • Meristematic tissues are of three types: Apical Meristem, Intercalary Meristem, Lateral Meristem
  • Permanent tissues are the tissues that have lost the ability to divide further. They provide mechanical strength, support, and flexibility to the plant.
  • Permanent tissues are of two types: Simple Permanent Tissues and Complex Permanent Tissues.
  • Simple Permanent Tissues are further divided into three types: Parenchyma, Collenchyma, and Sclerenchyma.
  • Complex Tissues are of two types: Xylem & Phloem.
