Question:

Imagine you are a woman participating in the Civil Disobedience Movement. Explain what the experience meant to your life.

Answer:

  • I feel wonderful and humble. The feeling of having done something for my beloved nation comes to mind when I march alongside tens of thousands of other like-minded women as part of the civil disobedience movement.
  • The most odd experience for me, though, has been marching in large groups on city streets because I have never done that before. However, I am relieved to engage with other sisters because we are all similar. They are also having their first experience.
  • The participation in the Civil Disobedience Movement also raises the status of women in Indian society.
  • It puts them in equal importance with Indian men.
  • Although not much has changed in the domestic lives of women, the contribution made through participation in the movement, itself is one of the most significant incidents for the Indian women.
