Breaking of the plasma membrane can cause the following things:

1. When the plasma brain breakdowns it results in the death of the cell.
2. The plasma membrane plays important role in protecting the cell from the surrounding environment.
3. In case the plasma membrane ruptures the cell will not be able to exchange material from surrounding by the process of osmosis or diffusion because the plasma membrane is semipermeable and act as a mechanical barrier.
4. There the protoplasmic material will get mixed with the surroundings and will get disappeared resulting in the death of the cell.
