The houses in Assam are built on stilts because Assam receives an abundant amount of rainfall due to which the surface always remains moist and poisonous insects are found more. So for the protection from these insects houses are built on stilts. In case of floods, water doesn't easily enter the houses and earthquakes do not cause much destruction to the houses.
