  • Unit 1: Chemical Substances - Nature and Behavior

The unit comprises 25 marks in the final exams. The unit includes ‘Chemical Equations and Reactions’, ‘Acids, Bases and Salts’, ‘Metals and Nonmetals’, and ‘Carbon and its compounds’.

  • Unit 2: World of Living

The unit comprises 25 marks in the final exams. The unit includes ‘Life Processes’, ‘Control and Coordination in Animals and Plants’, ‘Reproduction’, and ‘Heredity and Evolution’. 

  • Unit 3: Natural Phenomena

The unit comprises 12 marks in the final exams. The unit includes ‘Reflection of light’, ‘Refraction; Laws of refraction ', ' Refractive index’, ‘Human Eye’, and ‘Dispersion’. 

  • Unit 4: Effects of Current

The unit comprises 13 marks in the final exams. The unit includes ‘Electric Current’, ‘Electricity’, and ‘Magnetic Effects of Current’.

  • Unit 5: Natural Resources

The unit comprises 05 marks in the final exams. The unit includes questions from ‘Our Environment’.

Analyze the Exam Pattern

This step includes creating a paper format with the help of the syllabus, focusing on the typology and style of questions. This can help improve time management skills before and during the board exams. The students will know exactly how to attempt all the questions in the best possible time.

This question paper consists of 39 questions in 5 sections. All questions are compulsory. However, an internal choice is provided in some questions. A student is expected to attempt only one of these questions.

  • Section A consists of 20 objective-type questions carrying 1 mark each.
  • Section B consists of 6 Very Short questions carrying 02 marks each. Answers to these questions should be in the range of 30 to 50 words.
  • Section C consists of 7 Short Answer type questions carrying 03 marks each. Answers to these questions should be in the range of 50 to 80 words.
  • Section D consists of 3 Long Answer type questions carrying 05 marks each. Answers to these questions should be in the range of 80 to 120 words.
  • Section E consists of 3 source-based/case-based units of assessment of 04 marks each with sub-parts.

The final CBSE Class 10 Science question will include 50% competency-based questions and the pattern can be understood better from the points mentioned above.

Create a CBSE Board Exam Timetable

The external theoretical examination comprises 80 marks and the rest 20 marks are added from the practical examination. After understanding the syllabus and the exam pattern, students can make a list as per the marks' precedence and their understanding.

Try to keep calm while attempting the examination paper. 

  • During the extra 15 minutes before the exam starts, read the entire question paper. Keep aside the challenging questions for the next reading. 
  • Choose the questions that students are completely sure of in case of the internal choice questions. 
  • Don’t spend more than the required time on a single question. Attempt the other questions. Once the complete paper is attempted, check out the questions missed or left to be solved later. Read those questions with a calm mind and try to solve them systematically. 
  • Follow the necessary steps in case of attempting the numerical. Attempt the paper as per the section included in the paper. 
  • Keep an extra 15-20 for the revision after attempting the complete paper.

The preparation before the examination of the CBSE Class 10 board examination must be quantitatively and qualitatively balanced. Prepare a strategy and start the exam preparation accordingly.  Try memorization techniques and if possible, study groups can help in preparing for the exam better.
