The western slopes of the Western Ghats receive heavier rainfall than the eastern slopes. The monsoon, filled with moist air, moves across the Western Ghats and as soon as the monsoon hits the western slopes, it rains heavily. That's why the western slopes of the Western Ghats are covered with thick vegetation.
