Question:

One study showed that the parents of children with light colored eyes also have light colored eyes. On the basis of this, can we say whether the symptom of light colored eyes is effective or ineffective? Explain your answer.

Answer:

On the basis of the above description we cannot say whether the light colored eye trait is dominant or recessive, as both the parents have light colored eyes. It may be that both the gene variants are recessive in the parent, so whether there is a second choice of eye color or not, the offspring was found to have light colored eyes. Considering the second assumption, it is shown that the light-colored eye symptom is dominant. Some children at this stage may have dark eyes, as the recessive symptom should be expressed in 1 in 4 children.
