What are trophic levels? Give an example of a food chain and state the different trophic levels in it.

Answer:

The different steps in a food chain are called trophic levels.

For example: Grass → Deer → Lion (Tiger).

There are different trophic levels in this food chain.

  • The first trophic level is the grass which is called producer.
  • The second trophic level is deer, which is a herbivore.
  • The third trophic level is the lion, it is a carnivore.
