We see that the sound produced in a large auditorium due to repeated reflection from the walls of the hall persists for some time until it is heard very little. Due to this repeated reflection of sound, there is a persistence, which is called reverberation. To reduce this fibers and other materials are applied to the walls and ceilings of the auditorium so that they absorb the sound.
