Why are the candidates required to give a detailed statement of their property?

Answer:

The candidates are required to give a detailed statement of their property because through this information the Election Commission can try to stop the misuse of money during the election. The candidate has to inform about movable and immovable assets, debts, tax status, income and wealth.
