Joniyawas of Rewari District in Haryana, India.
She was born in the frozen plains of Siberia.

Despite her strugg- le to get a proper education and
scaling the Mount Everest twice, she also saved the life
of a fellow mountaineer by sharing her oxygen.
She learnt how to take care of herself. She never thought
of quitting because she knew what she wanted.
5. Their patriotism When she unfurled the Indian tricolor and held it
aloft on the roof of the world, her feelings were indescribable.
It was truly a spirit-ual moment. She felt proud as an Indian.
Maria says that though she spent a big part of her life in
the US but her blood is totally Russian. She will play
the Olympics for Russia if they want her to.
